Brief History
Wild Malus orientalist, species of wild apple could be an ancestor of today's domesticated apples. According to the American Society for the Horticulture Science, Those wild apples are naive to the Middle East and Central Asia. The apple trees in those regions are believed to be ancestral because they retain a robust, undifferentiated genome. Due to its robust and undifferentiated genome, many of them have not lost their disease resistances through generations of genome thinning by artificial selection. Those ancestral-like apple trees are found in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Armenia and Georgia where those countries nearly surround the Mount Ararat region. Mount Ararat region was the most likely resting place for Noah's Ark, as according to the biblical account of the Flood (Genesis 8:4). As the early humans carried apples and migrated to other lands, the apples became established throughout all of Asia, the Mediterranean region and Middle East. Naturally the apples crossed the Atlantic when the new American Colonies were founded in the early years of the 17th century.
